Website analytics privacy

Updated 13 October 2026. This notice covers the portfolio website’s app metrics feature; individual app policies remain in Privacy & Support.

What the metrics feature records

We count portfolio page views, project detail views and clicks on App Store links. Records contain the day, receipt time, project, event type, referring domain, broad screen-size category, a campaign label if present, and an optional country code provided by Cloudflare. We do not store the referring page’s full URL or your search terms in this database.

This feature uses no analytics cookies, device fingerprint or persistent visitor identifier. A random ID distinguishes each event so retries are not counted twice. For abuse prevention, a changing keyed hash of the network address is expires after two hours and is removed during a later collection or maintenance run; the raw address is not stored in this metrics database. Hosting and security providers may separately process network addresses and request logs to operate the website.

Choices and retention

The new app-metrics tracker respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. The site’s earlier aggregate page counter is a separate system and also respects those signals. Website event records are retained for 365 days by default, adjustable by the site administrator from 30 to 730 days. No attempt is made to identify which individual visitor later installs or buys an app.

Apple reports

App Store analytics and commercial reports are imported as aggregate data for app performance analysis. Apple may delay, limit or adjust reports to protect privacy. We do not receive payment card details through this integration. App Store links take you to Apple, whose own privacy policy applies.
